Kindle eReaders

If you’re looking for an eReader, it’s no secret that Amazon is leading the market by an impressive margin. With all of the different models, however, it can be difficult to decide which one to buy. To help you out, we are comparing the various Kindle models to make the decision easier for you.

The Kindle comes in different versions, from your basic, no-frills Kindle to the Kindle Fire multimedia tablet. All Kindles incorporate the basic eReader capabilities that the Kindle is known for, however, each version come with additional features for different users.

Wi-Fi or 3G connection?

It is important to know that you will always be able to read the eBooks you already have in your Kindle. You don’t need an Internet connection (Wi-Fi or 3G) to read what you already have in your device.

Wi-Fi only Kindles need a Wi-Fi connection to access the Internet and the 3G Kindles have their “own free internet connection”. 3G comes with enhancements over previous wireless technologies. It is not necessarily faster or better than Wi-Fi.

How to download eBooks in your Kindle

There are basically three ways you can download eBooks in your Kindle, including:

  • Download the eBook to your computer and load it to the Kindle via an USB cable. This can be done with any Kindle.
  • Download eBooks through your Kindle using a Wi-Fi connection, when you are at your house or in a place with free internet access. This can be done with any Kindle.
  • Download books through your Kindle with “it’s own internet connection”, the 3G connection. The 3G Kindles have “free” internet connection built into the device.

Which Kindle to go for?

Well, this all depends on your budget and what you want to do with it.

The basic Kindle model is for you if you just want to read eBooks and don’t want the hassle of additional features.

This high spec Kindle Fire is ideal for you if you’re looking for a full-blown tablet that also has eReader functions built in.
